It is rumoured that Barnacle Bill, an infamous pirate on the Great Barrier Reef, led a mutinous and dastardly crew, who, for a good feed and night ashore would cut anyone's throat.....So Barnacle Bill beached himself on the Esplanade in Cairns, and it was here he started his seafood tradition. He appeased his men with the freshest of seafood, fine wine and a few of Cairns other attractions...
